DCL sells Punch Tavern pub to former Fuller’s manager
02 March 2010
Davis Coffer Lyons has sold quality gastro pub The Old Nun’s Head in Nunhead, south London, to former Fuller’s tenanted and leased recruitment manager Louise Lawler.
Located on Nunhead Green in the residential village near East Dulwich, the Punch Tavern leasehold was previously run by the vendor J&C Bars. J&C Bars Director Jonathan Henfrey also operates the popular neighbourhood local The Gowlett in nearby Peckham, a winner of CAMRA’s southeast London Pub of the Year in 2005.
Lawler, who was previously in charge of matching licensees with vacancies in Fuller’s estate, bought the Old Nun’s Head together with partner Daniel Rowntree. The couple, who were locals to the pub, plan to introduce Lincolnshire sausages and other pork specialities, including chine and haslet, from the family’s farm, and said they would be looking for a second site within three years.
Chris Bickle of Davis Coffer Lyons who handled the sale, said: “The interest in quality neighborhood pubs is still out there. We have sold a handful across London to first time buyers and as in this case, to local residents or customers.”
